One of independent Armenia’s very first professional associations, the Armenian Jewellers Association was created in 1997 to connect Armenian jewelers around the world and help develop Armenia’s jewelry industry. The brainchild of Canadian-Armenian businessman Pierre Akkelian, the association has now launched the Armenian Jewellers Foundation, which will seek to unravel the intriguing history of jewelry and gems in an upcoming book and documentaries, recounting the famous and infamous stories behind some of the world’s most stunning creations through the ages and their Armenian connections.
